dr. Crystal Clark- Chatman Founder/executive director
Looking back over my life growing up in a single parent home with five other siblings, I can only thank God for the guidance and support system he has placed in my life.
As a young girl I suffered with low self –esteem and thought everybody was supposed to be my friend. Throughout my life I tried to find easy ways out instead of believing in God that he will see me through. Of course we all make poor decisions, but somewhere down that road, I found me.
Beautiful Spirited Women Girls Mentoring Program was designed and created by God himself.
B.S.W has hosted over 1000+ free workshops and completed over 5000+ community services projects THROUGHOUT SHELBY COUNTY & MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
Beautiful Spirited Women has established meaningful partnerships with numerous organizations throughout Memphis, Nashville, Clarksville, and surrounding communities to expand our impact and better serve youth and families each year. Through collaboration and community engagement, we have worked alongside organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Forgotten Souls Coalition, BeeTru Domestic Violence Organization, Mid-South Food Bank, Heal the Hood Foundation, Memphis Grizzlies Foundation, Faith Outreach Ministries, Royal Neighbors of America, and Peace First. These partnerships have helped us provide educational opportunities, community service initiatives, mentoring programs, health and wellness resources, and leadership development experiences that strengthen the communities we serve.
Beautiful Spirited Women has worked consistently with girls ages 4–18 and women ages 19 and older, positively impacting more than 65,000 girls and women through mentoring, leadership development, educational programming, and community service initiatives. Through our efforts, we continue to address critical challenges facing young people, including the prevention of teen pregnancy by promoting self-worth, healthy decision-making, personal responsibility, and future planning.
Beautiful Spirited Women is also proud to serve as a positive force within our communities by advocating against girl-on-girl violence and encouraging unity, respect, and healthy relationships among girls and young women. Through mentorship, leadership opportunities, and safe spaces for open dialogue, we empower participants to support one another, resolve conflicts peacefully, and become positive leaders within their schools and communities.
Beautiful Spirited Women has also served youth and families in low-income communities throughout Atlanta, GA; Freeport, IL; Jackson, TN; Miami, FL; Houston, TX; Jonesboro, AR; Los Angeles, CA; and Southaven, MS through local schools, libraries, community centers, faith-based organizations, workshops, conferences, and virtual platforms.
BSW is not just an organization—it is a lifestyle dedicated to service, leadership, mentorship, empowerment, and creating lasting impact wherever we are called to serve.

Beautiful Spirited Women was so much fun! My favorite part was going on adventures and getting to visit new places. We visited a college, a dentist office, and learned about different things in our community. I also liked spending time with the teachers because they were nice and made learning fun.
One of the best things that happened was being named “Cupcake of the Year.” It made me feel really happy and proud. To me, it means that I worked hard, learned new things, and did my best in the program.
Beautiful Spirited Women taught me that I can do anything if I try. They taught me to ask questions, be curious, raise my hand, and keep learning. They also taught me how to be a leader and believe in myself. Now I feel more confident and am not afraid to speak up when I want to learn something new.
I made new friends and had lots of fun. If another girl was thinking about joining Beautiful Spirited Women, I would tell her she should do it! You get to go on adventures, make friends, learn new things, and have a great time.

Ms. Asia Bigsbee
(BSW Mentee)
Being a part of Beautiful Spirited Women has helped shape me into the young woman I am today. What I enjoyed most was having opportunities to serve others, participate in leadership activities, and learn skills that will help me beyond high school. Every workshop, community project, and discussion challenged me to think bigger about my future and the impact I want to make in the world.
Receiving the title of "Mentee of the Year" was one of my proudest moments. It showed me that consistency, dedication, and a willingness to grow do not go unnoticed. This recognition reminded me that the effort I have invested in myself, my community, and the program has been worthwhile.
Through Beautiful Spirited Women, I learned the value of perseverance, accountability, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. The program encouraged me to set goals, embrace new experiences, and trust in my abilities. It also showed me that leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room, but about inspiring others through your actions and character.
The relationships I have built and the lessons I have gained will stay with me for years to come. For any girl considering joining Beautiful Spirited Women, I would encourage her to take the chance. It is an opportunity to grow, discover your potential, and become part of a supportive community that truly wants to see you succeed.
